A birthday gift from my mom

Yesterday was my birthday and my sweet mom had been saving this gift for me...it's a Russian shawl, but she said, "I thought it would look good on your table!" She's right. It is beautiful!
I paired it with classic blue and white...
Churchill Blue Willow atop dark rattan chargers
Blue Danube luncheon plates and cups & saucers
Churchill Blue Willow tea set
Blue rimmed wine stems & clear water goblets
my grandmother's silver
White linens in blue and white Russian napkin rings

Thanks, Mom! You know me so well!

What caught my eye is the way you have draped the throw on your table. I don't think fabric has character until it's manipulated! The colors are terrific.

Happy, happy birthday!
YOur Russian throw is stunning! It is just perfection on the table with your blue and white dishes! Could you use this as a shaw as well? It is too pretty not to use it every chance you get!

That table setting looks gorgeous! What a great idea to use the Russian throw on the table. I have some too, but it never occurred to me to experiment with them that way.

Your mom has wonderful taste, and I love the entire table. Those dishes are just beautiful to me. This is one of my favorite tables of the week, in fact.

Happy Birthday a few days late!!! I hope you had a good one! I really like that stemware with the blue rim. Either I've never seen it before or you've just done an exceptional job of using those in a way that makes them look new again! I remember last week's stems, but they were a different shape, I'm sure. ...or at least I think they were! Your Mom is a real sweetie for gifting you with that neat throw! She DOES know you well! That's a Mom for you! :-) Everything looks fantastic, Meredith!

Wow...What a great gift! I'm sure your mom knew how beautifully you would build a tablescape around it.

Technically, it's a Russian shawl. I had to look at every one on the rack before choosing this blue one. I knew it would go on your table first! But don't hesitate to wear it around your shoulders.

Love, Mom
