Just a preview...a 3rd Birthday!!!

Next Tuesday, my baby turns 3!!! I can't believe it. We are celebrating this weekend, rocket style!

My mom made this amazing runner with some material I found for making napkins. All I did was finish the hem around the border...

I have a stack of old acrylic chargers, so I painted them with chalkboard paint. I think I'm going to enjoy the possibilities with these. 

I used melamine plates from Target, same as Adrian's birthday and mason jars lined with rocket cupcake liners and a straw. The centerpiece will be the cake, but I'll take those pictures Saturday. Enjoy the preview...Andrew did!!!

Muffin Tin Crayons

 I'm sure you have old broken crayons...or new broken crayons because your 2 year old thinks it's funny to break them in half!! This was a rainy day craft a couple weeks ago. 

It kept some little hands busy peeling paper off the crayons.

Melt them in the tray in 30 second intervals. The silicone does get HOT!

I froze them, so the boys would get to see their creations faster.

Spring Quilt Scraps Wreath

 I've seen these all over pinterest, but actually was inspired by a friend of mine on Facebook. She posted a picture a week ago or so and I thought I'd try it. If you do a pinterest search for'rag wreath', you'll find it! I will probably make another one or two, all shades of white and one for Christmas! 

Here's a tutorial I found on pinterest! 

I used a straw wreath and not nearly as much fabric, so really it's up to you and how full you want yours! I might look for a Happy Easter sign to put in the middle, or some eggs to hang down...the possibilities are endless!

My project started because I can't find my Fiesta Wreath. Fiesta is a weeklong party in San Antonio and most people put a wreath on their doors...bright colors, ribbon, flowers...like this one here

The wreaths go up before Easter and stay on through May and sometimes into June! I'll keep looking, and might add some Fiesta to my rag wreath!

I hit Dollar Tree and my mom's house:)...not really...she just had extra fruit snacks and Valentine candies that she didn't want. I found the stickers, candy and heart containers at Dollar Tree and Micheal's.

Adrian was so excited to give a sweet treat to each of his new friends!!!

cupcake picks from Hobby Lobby were 40% off this week. I used them for colby jack cheese skewers for Adrian's class party!!!

leftover cheese is great for nachos!!!

I used the tiniest heart cutter from a fondant set from Hobby Lobby (40% off this week!!!) to make heart cut outs of cheese.

I hope all those 3 year olds enjoy their tweet heart skewers as much as this Mommy enjoyed making them!!!

A Christmas Advent Project part 1

picture frames

I am really excited about this project and wanted to start the posts early in case you also want to do this for the advent season starting December 1. This was created by two very talented moms at my church.

You will need the following supplies for this version---

• a Christmas tree or something to hang 25 small picture ornaments on

• 25 picture frame ornaments (I used rectangles, ovals and circles)

• these two Bibles (I bought them used since I knew I was just cutting out pictures)

• and the directions from the Redeemer Website (bottom of the page on the link)

(make sure you buy the LARGE version of this Bible) the link on the Redeemer website is for the small compact version. The pictures will not be big enough...if you look at all the reviews, like I did AFTER I received my Bible today, you'll see all the complaints!

My mom is a quilter with a closet FULL of scraps and fat quarters, so before heading out to my local craft and material supply store, I asked her to check for reds, browns, greens, golds and oranges...
I made 3 more pumpkins from her stash...technically to decorate for her birthday party this weekend.

She just turned 65 years young while traveling in Nova Scotia with my dad and her brother, so we are celebrating a little late, but still celebrating!

Baby Gifts

My mom made blocks for Adrian for his first Christmas
and I thought they were so sweet.
I am on the baby shower committee
for our church. We host a shower for first time moms...
and at our church we usually have more than one mom per shower.
The last one had 3 new mommies and our shower
in May-June will have 5 new mommies.

It is a great ministry and a blessing to share
a special time of prayer and thanksgiving
with these women in our church. Gifts are optional,
but I thought it would be fun
to make something for these mommies and their little ones.
Two of the girls had names they were sharing
and one of the girls is keeping hers a secret til the birth,
so for her I came up with something else...here are my projects.
