Tea and Dessert...in Mimmie's style

This week, I set the table in our kitchen for tea or coffee and dessert... I used my Johnson Brother's Regency White cups and saucers (garage sale find) nestled on top of my JB British Castles dessert plates.
(thank you to my brother for letting me borrow his tripod...)
Here are my mom's wedding crystal water goblets. I've used them before.
I used my Romanian lace doily. It was a wedding present from my MIL. I think she said it took her 10 months to make. It's an interesting process. A pattern is penciled out on thin paper and the skeleton is sewn on to the paper and then the intricate details are put together later.

Here are my Mimmie's linens
and a small coffee  spoon. It reads 'Tiffany & Co Sterling' on the underside. I like how the curves in the spoon, in the saucer and in the plate all echo each other.
This is also her fork...it reads Pat Jan 2, 1924 R.C. Co. on the underside. I don't know the pattern of either of these. Anyone???
a closer look...
ready for company...

The centerpiece is a small creamer from my Mimmie. It's by Mason.

The teapot and pedestal plate are from Marshall's.

Trying to take pictures isn't always an easy task...
did I mention I'm a Mommy of two little boys??
This is Andrew...sitting on a chair that he can't quite
figure out how to get down...yet
He was trying to pull the napkins off the table!
He got over it real quick when
Mommy picked him up and put the china away!
 Here is Andrew again...
Adrian already left after a couple chicken nuggets were eaten...
this is the 'other side' of the table for
photos for a recipe post on Friday!
Sometimes life is what it is,
but I am so blessed that this is my life
and I can capture these kind of moments too!
and the answer to the riddle from my previous post???
match strikes...they all smoked cigarettes while playing Bridge!

I'm linking up with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. You really should click on this link and see all the amazing creativity in tablescaping. I have gathered many ideas from some amazingly talented people!!!

  1. Oh! Thanks for stopping by so I could find you. I love your little setting. AND I have the British Castle transferware too! Your mom's glasses are really nice and go so well with your setting. I got a giggle over your table with your little boys! I am the grandmother to three young grandsons and I can so relate! :)

  2. I love those JB red dishes! I have been on a hunt for some. They are the color red that I really like.

The whole table is so pretty with the perfect mixture of china.

And your boys might be distracting, but they are VERY cute.

  3. Your red dishes are really nice, and they make such a pretty setting! The linens really add a lot to your pics, too, but you know I'm a little partial to pretty linens... I've got a soft spot for sweet little ones, too. :-)

  5. Boy you are to be congratulated for trying to do a tablescape with two little active toddlers!
You have a lovely collection of china and that lace table cloth your MIL made is quite the treasure! I can't believe anyone can do that, it's so intense! I sure couldn't! Treasure it always!

  6. Being the grandmother of four grandsons, I can understand how busy you are every single moment, and I appreciate the fact that you take a little time to create a tablescape for your family! I like how you used some of your family pieces, ...you mom's crystal, your grandmother's silver flatware.....and made it all work together to form a lovely tablescape.

I love your table topper. I am in awe of the work that went into that. Oh have you given us a close up and I missed it. I am very much into textiles and this piece is exquisite. Your table was lovely too and the two boys, well I raised two myself.. so I know!

  10. Love your tablescape. Old Britain Castle is a welcome sight anytime. Using heirloom pieces like your stemware makes the table personal and lovely. The mix of flatware is fun. Great Job!
