Earth Day Tablescape

This week, Cuisine Kathleen gave us a challenge to make an Earth Day Tablescape...so here I am in my backyard, celebrating the beauty of our Earth. I showed my garden is this post.
I'm celebrating Earth Day by recycling a shower curtain as a tablecloth! I loved the curtain, so I kept it. I bought it 5 years ago from Target.
I'm also reusing my favorite dishes, chargers and silverware! I consider buying things like beautiful old embroidered napkins from estate sales to be a way of recycling too!
The delft blue vase was my mom's.

The first cucumber of the garden!!! Can you see it???
Tiny little green fuzzy thing behind the yellow flower!!!
  Happy Earth Day!

  1. Beautiful table, I've been known to use a shower curtain on my table. Good fabric is good fabric:)

  3. That's what a cucumber looks like when it first starts out? Wow! I don't think I've ever seen that before. (I live a very sheltered life with my allergies!) I would NEVER have known that was a shower curtain had you not said it! Very clever move! They really are making fabulous ones these days! The table you set up honestly looks like one that I could (with about half a liter of allergy meds on board!) sit outside and enjoy. I can envision light-hearted conversation that evolves into something deep, then back to the fun. Time would pass and the world around me would be non-existent. Beautiful, Meredith!

  5. This is the 2nd tablescape I have seen today using a shower curtain for a tablecloth and I am SO inspired! I am definitely going to give it a try! This is such a pretty table setting and all the more because it's outside! Your little cucumber baby is delightful! I always get excited when I get the first flowers on my veggies. Since I'm in the Midwest, it will be awhile before I can plant. Sniff, sniff!

You have a great blog! Happy Earth Day!

    XO,

  8. You would never know that was a shower curtain. Looks great with the blue. We tablescapers are the ultimate repurposers (is that a word?). I love using things other people have discarded or have loved and had no one to give them to.

  9. Yum, I can almost smell that cucumber! There's nothing like the aroma of produce just off the vine! I like the browns and blues together--like the ground and the sky, perfect for Earth Day. Linda
